3 Things To Do AFTER Your Period Ends

In The Well Feminine Method, one of the main strategies we focus on is support a woman's entire cycle. Your cycle isn't your 3-7 day, monthly period... It's your 21-35 day month-long hormonal sequence! Your cycle is a FULL BODY EVENT that supports every system in your body! Learning about your cycle is easiest when done in bite-sized chunks, so here are 3 action steps you should take during the first few days of your Follicular Phase, just after your period ends:


Turn Up The Intensity: During the menstrual phase, you may have felt a dip in energy, causing you to want to cozy up & rest more. If you took an extra rest day or modified your favorite workouts to make them more low impact, kudos to listening to your body! Within the first 2-3 of your period ending, pick up the pace & schedule moderate intenisty & impact, as well as high intensity & impact workouts (depending on your body's needs & where you are in your fitness journey). Your Estrogen is beginning to rise, & with it, your energy is rising & you have muscle building opportunity! Pump up some endorphins & welcome in the Follicular Phase energy.

Prime Your Gut With Probiotics Gut health plays a huge role on your hormones, mood, immune system, skin, & more! Did you know that you have more bacteria in your digestive system than cells in your entire body?! Pick up some sauerkraut, kimchi, or tempeh to eat every day leading up to ovulation. These foods are loaded with healthy bacteria (probiotics) & fiber! Your digestive system will LOVE it during this part of your cycle & you're setting yourself up for a better, healthier month ahead.

Reduce Inflammation Do you have menstrual cramps or period pain? If so, start eating more Omega-3 rich foods NOW! These are proven to combat period pain by reducing inflammation & lowering prostaglandin levels.


Prostaglandins are hormones that cause contractions. If the levels are just right, they simply help shed the lining of your uterus. If you're doubled over in pain or rushing to the bathroom before there's an "emergency" bowel movement, they're too high! Salmon, shrimp, mackerel, chia seeds, & hemp seeds are great sources of Omega-3 to start adding to your diet right away.
