A couple of months ago, a friend came over and I made her my peppermint mocha matcha recipe. She LOVED IT and reminded me about how every time she comes over, I make her some kind of beverage-- a matcha, a tea, a cocktail, YOU NAME IT! She said I’m really good at “drink hospitality.” I had a good laugh at her comment because of how true that is! If you know me in real life or have been following me for a while, you can probably attest to this too. I love a good drink! Tasty, beautiful beverages can change your whole mood! This one in particular can change your whole mood because it’s made to nourish your adrenals & provide your body with essential nutrients for fighting off stress…. All while tasting like a vacation!
The adrenals are two small glands located on top of the kidneys that produce the stress hormone cortisol. Every morning, we should have a small, healthy spike in cortisol to wake us up and start our day. Throughout the day, cortisol should gradually lower so that we feel good and relaxed by the evening.
Unfortunately, many of us live under high amounts of frequent stress and anxiety, which leads to high stress hormones. High cortisol can spike your blood sugar, alter your mood, compromise your metabolism, cause stress breakouts, and more. Eventually, this could even cause adrenal fatigue where you’re no longer producing appropriate amounts of cortisol and your sleep/ wake cycle gets totally disrupted. You’ll feel exhausted, depleted, and unable to live your normal life. That’s what I dealt with in my early 20s and part of what inspired me to take control of my hormonal health, but I don’t wish it on anyone else! In addition to stress management and medical care for potential underlying causes, one of my favorite ways to proactively help your body respond to stress in a healthy way is the Adrenal Creamsicle!

Potassium & electrolytes: Ok, a couple of these ingredients are weird, but you won’t taste them and electrolytes are so important! This is supporting your adrenal function, pH balance, and energy production.

6 oz. of orange juice
2 tbsp full fat coconut cream
1 serving collagen powder (I use this kind!)
¼ tsp pink Himalayan salt
¼ tsp cream of tartar
Put all ingredients in a blender or shaker to combine. Pour in a glass & enjoy!
